.
History: The diner was a barrel roof diner. Thomas Young received a permit for a $9,000 diner to be constructed and managed by Conrad Rapoport of New Rochelle. There is a photo of this diner in an Arcadia book concerning Rensselaer. 1948 newspaper article makes it seem like the diner was auctioned off in 1948. |

History:
Earl
C. VanSchoick was the manager in 1940. The diner was possibly originally at 144
Broadway in Albany. In late 1948, the Brill(American Diner Museum has a photo) was replaced
with a Silk City Diner. That diner was auctioned off in 1965. The
location then saw a fast food restaurant, which was then replaced by a
diner in 1983. |
